Sarah Fowler (Music Teacher and Woodwind and Brass Co-ordinator)

Sarah Fowler is a graduate from the University of Wales, Swansea. In October 2000 she became a partner in The Music Studio, teaching voice, piano, and woodwind across all ages and abilities as well as directing several youth ensembles. After gaining her PGCE she began her teaching career at Monmouth Comprehensive School.  In 2013 Sarah was appointed at HMSG to teach music and joined Monmouth School in 2015 as both an academic music teacher and Woodwind and Brass Co-ordinator. Sarah is responsible for both the Junior Winds and Symphonic Winds, as well as Woodwind Chamber Music.  Outside of School Sarah is the Musical Director/ Director for several amateur societies, regularly performs in shows and sings with her own function and tribute bands.

Sara Greenwood (Strings)

Sara has been teaching at Monmouth School and HMSG for sixteen years.  She is a ‘cellist and graduate of both the Royal Northern College of Music and Cardiff University.  Sara works across the whole family of Haberdashers’ Schools in Monmouth to provide individual tuition as well and chamber music coaching and direction of the Bach Orchestra.  She also helps with the joint symphony orchestra HMSSO as well as providing rehearsal support for Senior Strings and Grange Orchestra and running small groups of ‘cellists as part of The Grange’s classroom instrumental provision.

David Lawson (Director of Music and Organist)

David Lawson, an organist and singer, read Music at the University of Liverpool, studying with Michael Talbot and Robert Orledge, and was Organ Scholar of the Metropolitan Cathedral.  After a post-graduate year at Liverpool he was appointed to his first teaching post at Downside School in 1990, subsequently becoming Director of Music there, and in 1992 was installed as a Gentleman of Her Majesty’s Chapels Royal.  He came to Monmouth School in 2002 from Bury Grammar School where he had been Director of Music, and had also sung as a Lay Clerk at Manchester Cathedral.  David has worked in the music and entertainment industry and has been the recipient of two BPI Silver Discs for CDs he has directed.  He is an Associate of the Royal College of Organists and outside of School he sings regularly with the choirs of Worcester and Gloucester Cathedrals.
