A tech-savvy schoolboy has been listed in the UK’s top 50 A level computing candidates.
Devan, from Monmouth School, gained full marks for his A level coursework and a high A* in the subject overall.
The 18-year-old found out this week that he has been awarded a Netcraft AQA A Level Computing Award for his hard work, a prize given to the top 50 candidates from all over the country.
It is the second year running a Monmouth School pupil has bagged the prize, with Harry winning it last year.
But Devan did not only excel in computing.
He also achieved three more A*s and is off to study Computer Science at Cambridge later this year.
He said: “I’m really relieved – more relieved than happy.
“It means everything to me.
“It feels like everything I’ve done has built up to this.
“I put in a ridiculous amount of work.
“I did every past paper I could get my hands on and revised for 10 to 12 hours a day in the week before each exam.
“I never really realised I would have a chance of getting into Cambridge until Sixth Form.
“When I realised I could do it, I thought ‘why not?’
“You can do anything with computing, it’s a really exciting industry.”
