OM Selected for Cambridge Rowing Crew

March 10, 2016

Jamie RowingYesterday, the Cambridge University Lightweight squad announced their squad for the 2016 lightweight Boat Race to take place on Saturday 19th March. The race is held over the Henley course, famous for the Henley Royal Regattas in June-July, and is the pinnacle of the Cambridge season.

Amongst those selected for the crew was Jamie Brown, an OM who competed in the 1st VIII at Henley only last summer at Henley Royal Regatta. Jamie worked his way to the top since matriculating in October last year, winning his Trial Eights race in December by 2 lengths.

Cambridge has a strong history in the lightweight race, with a better record than Oxford over the past 5 years. The squad has also produced 4 international athletes since 2000 racing at 6 international events. Alongside oarsmen from schools such as Hampton and St Pauls, Jamie will be the only first year in the boat – an impressive achievement given the demanding training schedule. We wish Jamie the best of luck in what is sure to live up to its reputation of being an exciting race.
