OM returns to commemorate the Battle of the Somme

James PowellOn Monday 26th June OM James Powell, newly graduated and newly engaged, regaled the Sixth Form History Society with a passionate analysis of why the British commemorate the Battle of the Somme differently to the French approach to Verdun. A lively debate ensued which the Sixth form  enjoyed along with several members of staff in this week in which the shocking events of the 1st July 1916 will be the focus of remembrance events all over the country.
