Climbing 2016bannerOn Saturday Boulders Indoor Climbing Centre in Cardiff played host to the National Cadet Indoor Climbing Championships.

Monmouth School CCF fielded a relatively inexperienced, but determined team of 4 junior and 4 senior boys, in fact some of them had never climbed previously. With only six weeks of training, they competed in individual climbing events with each route getting progressively harder. There was also at technical bouldering competition as well as a team speed-climbing event. All cadets gave a very determined and gutsy performances with Harry demonstrating that he has huge potential to progress in this sport, finishing fourth against vastly more experienced climbers.

The team, consisting of Tom, Sebastian, Toby, Henry, Ryan, Robert, Harry and Harrison were thrilled to finish runners-up in the team speed climbing event, just over one second slower than the winners and were even more thrilled to win the event outright for their consistently impressive performances throughout all of the events.

Monmouth CCF boys are now the National indoor climbing champions for the first time a  massive well done from Mr Peake and all of the CCF officers.
