KS3 Overview

Students at Monmouth School study Design and Technology as part of the core curriculum in the first, second and third forms (years 7-9). During these three years, they embark upon a wide variety design projects usually one per term. These projects aim to improve each pupil’s knowledge of the ‘Design Process’ and practical workshop skills. In this way Design and technology raises conscious awareness of the process of planning, making and evaluating as a cyclical process. We will also look to gradually improve their personal organization and problem-solving abilities each year in preparation for GCSE and A-levels.

The lower school projects can be in any term for the particular year group and are as follows:

Form 1

Wooden Toy Car

Fuse Tester

Structures/Bridge

Form 2

Storage Box

Clock

Coat Peg

Form 3

Salad Servers
