Bruce selected for GB Junior Development Team

Monmouth School pupil, Bruce (16) has been selected to go to France as part of the GB Junior Development Team, he will travel to St Laurant Blangy the weekend of 28/29th  January, and compete in two disciplines 2000 km and 200 m sprints, Bruce has also been selected in February to join a group of 12 athletes to train together, aiming for selection for the Olympic Hopes Regatta at the end of the season.

Last weekend Bruce raced with his partner James from Bradford Upon Avon, on the Thames in Weybridge,  in their first U18 race over 13 miles, being piped on the line into 2nd place.

Racing canoeing is a diverse sporting discipline from the character building Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race (125 miles) which many schools compete in for general character building, competing against other schools, CCF, and also Duke of Edinburgh, to the fast Olympic disciplines ranging from 200m to a 1000m, in which we have the current Olympic Gold Medalist  Dr Tim Brabbants, you may have seen him in the BMW press releases.
