Swimming success

The weekend of the 3rd and 4th of December saw Huw  from Town House and George of The Grange travel down to the Newport International Sports Village to compete in the British Gas South East Wales Sub Regional swimming competition.  Both boys had been preparing for this event for the past 2 months and felt ready to take on the might of all the clubs in South Wales.

The competition was very tight, in one race the top three swimmers were separated by only 6 1/100ths of a second or about a hand length. Huw triumphed with Gold in the 13 and under events of 400 metres freestyle and 200 backstroke and Bronze in 100 backstroke, 100 freestyle and 200 butterfly. George, 10, was made an honorary 11 year old for the day by some strange swimming mathematics, and still won silver in both the 100 metre breaststroke and freestyle races.  Both Huw and George train with the Monnow Swimming Club who use the Monmouth School and HMSG pools.
