Last week, the co-founder and lead guitarist of the Boomtown Rats visited the School to give an electric guitar masterclass.  Garry Roberts talked to pupils about his early career and gave a fascinating insight into the history of guitars and pop music.  Later, the boys had the opportunity to play alongside Garry and pick up some expert tips!

Commenting on his visit, Garry said, “It is fantastic to have the opportunity to work with the next generation of musicians and to hear them play.  I wanted to give the boys a real grounding in the history of blues music, which is the foundation for all great guitar music.  A knowledge of the blues and lots of practice is what makes a good guitar player.”
