Congratulations to Monmouth School pupil Calvin, who on Monday won first prize at the WJEC’s Innovation 2010 Exhibition for his AS level design and technology project.

Calvin’s design, the Roller Tray, provides a quick and hygienic way of sealing takeaway cartons.  Calvin came up with the idea when working at his parents’ takeaway restaurant, and his winning project beat off thousands of other entries.    

The First Minister of Wales, Rt Hon. Carwyn Jones AM, presented Calvin with his prize. 

He said, “It is fantastic to see that the younger generation in Wales can boast such a high calibre in innovation.  I have seen some outstanding exhibits, and it has been a pleasure to meet and congratulate those who have been chosen for an award.”
