Congratulations to all the boys who took part. Bobby won the prize for the fastest time (48 lengths in 25 minutes), Lewis won the furthest distance prize by swimming a total of 200 lengths (5k) and Monty won the prize for collecting the most money (£230). In total, the boys raised over £2000 and presented a cheque for £1007.88p to The Friends of Monnow Vale Hospital. This local charity provides extra training, equipment and services for the hospital as well as support for patients. Friends of Monnow Vale helped to look after Mrs Sandra Watkins who sadly died of cancer on 8th October 2010. Mrs Watkins worked at School House for 23 years and is sadly missed. This donation from the boys is very much in her memory. A further £1000 was donated to the ‘Help for Heroes’ charity, another charity that Monmouth School supports. |
Last November, boys from School House organised a sponsored swim to raise money for charity. Pupils and teachers pledged to swim the length of the Channel between them, but in the end swam an impressive 37 miles.
