Trips and Events

GCSE, AS, A2 Exhibition, June - Parents, staff and pupils were invited to an end of year exhibition of work by exam groups, held in The Blake Theatre.

Puzzlewood, September – 6th Form had observational drawing visits to Puzzlewood.

Richard Corbett presentation, September – 6th Form pupils visited The New Leaf gallery to be enlightened by Richard Corbett’s recent landscape paintings.

Tenby Residential Visit, October – 6th Form pupils took advantage of a 3 day residential trip to Tenby. This offered the opportunity to work intensely along side a variety of local professional artists and will contribute towards their coursework.

London Visit, November – 4th form and 6.2 artists visited the National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery where they were given guided tours targeting specific work related to their theme of ‘Faces and Figures’.

Life Drawing, January – 6th Form artists are expected to attend life drawing sessions held after school.

Philip Chatfield Lecture, February – 5th and 6th Form artists were given a slide presentation by old boy, Philip Chatfield (Sculptor).

Philip Chatfield ‘Stone’ Carving Workshop, May – 4th Form carving workshop exploring the human form.

Potter’s wheel sessions with Lucy Racz - May / June – Lunch time sessions on the potter’s wheel for junior pupils.

Cardiff School of Art & Design, June – 6.1 pupils visit to view Degree Show and gain knowledge of disciplines within an art school.

Joint School’s Exhibition, September - Monmouth School teamed up with The Wye Valley Arts Society, HMSG and Monmouth Comprehensive School to showcase their artistic talent at a hugely successful exhibition in the Shire Hall. Sculpture, ceramics, paintings, prints, digital images and film, created by all year groups, were celebrated and helped to raise money for the local charity ‘Swan Court Studio.’
