Marcus Sedgwick, the internationally acclaimed author of novels for young adults gave an hour long talk to the 2nd and 3rd Form boys in the Monmouth School library on Tuesday afternoon. His incredibly popular novels have covered topics as diverse as the First World War, myths from Northern and Eastern Europe, magic, isolation and the afterlife.
He told of his interesting life as well as his work as an author, with particular reference to his Arctic thriller Revolver. Te writing of this novel involved a great deal of research into the mechanics and characteristics of firearms and visits to Northern Sweden to experience frozen landscapes and living conditions. It was an afternoon of fascinating insights into the process of writing a novel.
