Sub Aqua

Monmouth School boasts a thriving sub aqua club.  Each year, novice divers from the third form upwards are invited to train as ocean divers.  Up to 12 students receive a weekly session, either theory or pool based.  The school has a 25m swimming pool with a maximum depth of 3m, perfect for our trainee divers to practice their skills such as mask clearing and neutral buoyancy.  The open water dives which will enable the students to qualify as BSAC Ocean Divers take place in Gozo, an island off Malta during the summer holiday each year.

As well as introducing new students to this adventurous sport, qualified divers are encouraged to train for Sports Diver and Dive Leader qualifications.  The more advanced members of the club are invited to attend trips to The Red Sea, or even Chepstow Quarry!
