The Classics department is headed by Mr D.G. Hope and has three full time members of staff.

First Form

The students study Latin in the first form.

Second Form

Following assessment of their first year’s work and the end of year examination performance, and, where necessary, after consultation with tutors and parents, the numbers are reduced to two sets of 20 - 24. 

Those who do not continue Latin are given the chance to take Spanish and German.

Third Form

All boys are given the option of continuing Latin.  With the influx of the 13+ entry this usually creates two sets of 15 - 20.
