It is not often that people, especially of this age group, reach the top level of their sport. However, Ewan, who is in the second form at Monmouth School, has already reached 1^st Dan Black Belt at karate. He passed the exam “with flying colours” on Sunday, progressing to the pinnacle of karate at junior level. He cannot progress any further until he reaches fourteen, when he can choose to switch to adult grades and re-progress up the Dan’s. Ewan helps Mr Hunt, a music teacher and housemaster, with his karate club in Friday lunch breaks.
