Over the course of the summer term 2010, Monmouth School’s junior rowing club has seen a record number of boys attending its Friday after school practices.
The club, which runs on Friday evenings now has over 15 members, 3 members of staff and 4 upper school helpers – an excellent commitment! Aimed at those in second and third form, who do not participate in rowing for games lessons, the club offers a relaxed, safe environment for those who wish to learn, and develop their rowing skills.
The highly qualified and experienced staff offer a unique experience, individually tailored for each rower, making this a club for the boys not to miss!
“It’s always great to have someone there to give advice exactly when you need it,” says Gabriel, a second form pupil, “I learnt to row in these sessions and I still think I make progress every week.”
As well as rowing on the river, the boys participate in fitness related activities such as the use of the rowing club’s rowing machines. The club lasts for one and a half hours during the michlemas and summer term and commences the first week of term 2010.
Junior rowing club is a fabulous opportunity for anyone, regardless of rowing experience and certainly secures the school's rowing future!
