The Course The Chemistry Course we are following is studied in three modules, which will lead to a GCSE in Chemistry. Assessment of the three modules is spread over the two years of study. Pupils are encouraged to consider scientific concepts and to utilise experimental and investigative techniques.  The objective is to enable them to acquire and apply skills, knowledge and understanding of how Chemistry works and its essential role in society.

Chemistry 1  June Form IV Chemistry 2  January Form V Chemistry 3  June Form V – Candidates who are proceeding to the Additional Science qualification will resit appropriate modules with the aim of improving their overall grade.

Centre assessed unit (25%)

This has two components: an Investigative Skills Assignment, which is based on normal class practical work, assessed over the duration of the course; the Practical Skills Assessment is an externally set, internally assessed practical test of 45 minutes.
