Key Stage Three Programme
Forms 1 to 3 are a time when students can learn those key skills that will enable them to face their future educational lives with confidence. The Key Stage 3 English programme is designed to challenge, inform and stimulate; providing pupils with the confidence and desire to embrace the written world around them.
In each year of Key Stage 3, students make use of a wide range of texts to develop their reading and understanding skills. Sampling an array of texts from the classic to the contemporary, students will be given countless opportunities to experience writing that will interest and engage.
To develop their writing skills, students explore a variety of forms and genres. As they progress through Forms 1 to 3 they learn to adapt their writing to suit different audiences and purposes. All three years will feature components of the writing styles required for their forthcoming GCSEs, delivered in a way that suits their age and ability. In Form 1 there is a focus towards imaginative writing; Form 2 consolidates these techniques whilst also concentrating on more formal writing and, in Form 3, their analytical skills are honed in preparation for the requirements of Key Stage 4.
