EAL students discover Welsh history

March 7, 2017

A group of 6.1 EAL pupils braved the cold weather and rain on Sunday to explore the heritage and history of Wales at the Big Pit museum, Blaenavon. The group had the chance to descend the mine, complete with hard hats and lights.  We spent about an hour underground, exploring the tunnels and caverns with a former miner from the site, who even turned off all the lights at one point so we could experience the complete darkness of the mine. The students also had a chance to visit the many exhibitions and museums on site.
The trip allowed the students to practise their English skills while learning about History, Economics and Science and everyone found the experience rewarding.
