Children raise the roof at percussion workshop

January 19, 2016

More than 650 schoolchildren learned about a whole range of fantastic instruments at a hands-on percussion workshop.

Taking place at Monmouth School’s Blake Theatre, three sessions of the noisy masterclass delighted youngsters on Thursday, January 14.

Pupils in Years 5 and 6 from 14 local schools, including Cross Ash, The Grange, Inglefield House and Osbaston, were enthralled by the Fusion Percussion Ensemble.

They learned about various instruments like marimbas and xylophones and enjoyed professional performances by the group.

The ensemble’s family of gongs proved to be very popular with the children, who seized the opportunity to get hands-on experience with the impressive instruments.
