Amazing season end for the unbeaten U14 As

March 29th, 2017

The U14A team have completed an unbeaten season and have done it in some style. They played very well on Saturday to win 4-0 against a strong, unbeaten, U15B Marlborough team. The opening minutes were understandably nervy as winning this fixture ensured that the team have gone unbeaten all season; indeed their only draw came in a gutsy 2-2 performance away at Malvern.

The team deserve an enormous amount of credit for the way they have truly bought into the team ethos and followed the clichéd mantra of their coach – ‘one game at a time’.

The final week of the season saw a real fixture pile-up – of the sort that would have made Jose Mourinho incandescent with rage and dishing out the pitch side bananas – but the boys came through admirably with increasingly assured performances.

Our star striker Seb (pictured) and his 33 goals will understandably steal the headlines of the back pages but all the players in the squad can feel extremely proud of their first season in school football. It is an outstanding achievement. Credit should also be given to the outside coach, Ben Stait, who has been invaluable in developing the players throughout the season. Very well done boys!
